The Grand Lodge monthly per capita tax for 2013 will be $32.30 reports General Secretary-Treasurer Robert Roach, Jr., in a letter to all IAM District and Local Lodges. The figure was calculated using the formula approved by Delegates to the 2008 Grand Lodge Convention.
The 1.65 percent increase is based on “the average of the percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) as published by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Canadian Consumer Price Index as published by Statistics Canada,” explains the letter to all lodges. “Therefore, taking the 2012 Grand Lodge per capita tax of $31.78, and increasing that total by 1.65%, the 2013 Grand Lodge per capita tax will be $32.30.”
The IAM Constitution mandates that the minimum per capita tax to District Lodges shall be an amount equal to forty percent (40%) of the Grand Lodge per capita tax rounded to the nearest five cents. Therefore, based on the 2013 Grand Lodge per capita tax of $32.30, minus the $4.00 increase that became effective January 1, 2009 and the $2.00 increase that became effective January 1, 2011, leaving $26.30, effective January 1, 2013, the minimum District Lodge per capita tax will be $10.50. This represents an increase of 20 cents over 2012.
