About Work Place Issues

TCU’s primary function is to negotiate agreements to improve the working lives of our members, and to enforce those agreements when an employer attempts to violate them. The Work Place Issues section of TCU’s Web Site is devoted to advancing those goals.

Here you will find our Local Rep’s Corner, a collection of useful information on grievance handling, representing members at disciplinary hearings, and other articles on contract enforcement of interest to representatives and members alike.

Our What’s New in Bargaining section features up-to-the-minute reports on contracts reached and bargaining developments in major negotiations.

Our Arbitration World section contains summaries of recent major arbitration decisions, as well as news about arbitration developments inside and outside the railroad industry.

National Agreements is a compendium of current national railroad agreements. You will also find information on important laws affecting our work lives, such as the Family and Medical Leave Act, and sections on vital work place issues, including Work Place Safety, Sexual Harassment, and Work Place Violence.

The Section on TCU’s Internal Education programs has information on our Leadership Training Programs for local representatives, news about additional training initiatives, and links to the George Meany Center for Labor Studies.
