IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen has been traveling the country making station visits for nearly three years.
“When I came into office, I saw an important need on meeting directly with the membership,” said Johnsen. “Myself and our staff have been crisscrossing the nation, meeting with members at all the airlines and service operators we represent.”
Johnsen, along with Air Transport Territory Chief of Staff Edison Fraser, Airline Coordinator Tom Regan and Grand Lodge Representative Gary Naylor, recently visited Newark Liberty International Airport to walk United Airlines’ mega hub and visit with members. The IAM represents approximately 5,000 members at this important airline base. The two-day visit allowed the team to meet with Passenger Service, Ramp, Move Team, Cargo, Stores and United Ground Express (UGE).
International, District and Local leadership was available to answer questions and concerns from the membership. Also accompanying on the visit were:
“I want to thank the entire IAM Local 914 leadership team for taking the time to get my team face to face with the membership,” said Johnsen. “The membership was very engaged and showed tremendous solidarity. They truly understand how important it is to support the union in upcoming contract discussions with the employer.”
