Alabama Local 2003 Breaks New Ground


Members of Local 2003 in Daleville, AL, begin construction on a new headquarters building with the ceremonial groundbreaking.

Members of Local 2003 in Daleville, AL broke ground recently on a new 15,000 square foot headquarters building that will serve nearly 3,800 members who work at the nearby Fort Rucker Army Base.

The local has a rich history of community service and the state-of-the-art building will also serve as a storm and hurricane center for the community. It will have offices, a computer lab and meeting space for up to 500 people.

The local was formed in 1955, and the current building was built in 1962.

“This new building will be an important part of our community, as well as our headquarters,” said Local 2003 President Tony Barnes. “It will serve our union and the area well for decades to come.”

“Local 2003 is a strong and thriving local,” said Southern Territory GVP Bob Martinez. “We congratulate them on the groundbreaking for their new headquarters, which will serve the local and its members for years to come.”
