Auto Dealer Touts IAM Value on Talk Radio

The IAM, and especially Local 1363 members who work at Nick Mayer Lincoln Mercury in Westlake, OH, received far-reaching praise via the airwaves recently. Dealership owner Nick Mayer was interviewed on the America’s Work Force (AWF) radio program and championed the benefits of a running a union shop.

“As an employer, I’m proud to say I’m union,” Mayer told AWF host Ed “Flash” Ferenc during the May 21, 2010 interview. “My guys make more and have better benefits than non-union workers. When people are paid well and treated right, they work harder and give it 100 percent every day.”

The dealership has been in the family – and union – more than 30 years. Mayer said their philosophy has been that a strong union equals a strong voice, strong values, strong work ethics, strong production, strong profits and a strong dealership.
