Blog Provides Voice for Federal Employees

NFFE-IAM Federal District 1 (FD1) in Washington, DC has created a blog, “I am a Federal Employee,” as an avenue for federal employees to voice the truth about who they are, what they do, and to share their experiences and struggles.

“The unrelenting attacks levied by members of Congress who call for reducing the pay and benefits of federal employees as an answer to the budget crisis is what motivated us to create this new forum for federal employees,” said FD1 President William Dougan. “Too often, we hear from the media and elsewhere that federal workers are overpaid and underworked, and nothing could be further from the truth.”

Federal workers include the nurses and doctors caring for veterans; firefighters; border patrol agents; scientists; machinists and engineers. It is federal workers who provide support for our military and maintain our military readiness; maintain our national parks and forests and work in countless other trades and professions that work for America every day.
