China’s Unfair Trade Policies Threaten U.S. Auto-Parts Industry

The Economic Policy Institute (EPI) has issued a report accusing China of unfair trade policies and actions which threaten future employment in the auto-parts industry. The Report, authored by Rob Scott and Hilary Wething, concludes, “Every one of the United States’ auto-parts jobs is individually at risk from China’s unfair trade practices.”

The IAM represents thousands of workers in the auto-parts industry. Noting the report, IAM President Tom Buffenbarger commented, “As one of the largest manufacturing unions representing workers in the auto-parts industry, we urge our government to challenge these unfair trade practices in this critical industry.”
