Connecticut Local 743 Approves New Contract

Local 743 Negotiating Committee prepares at the Winpisinger Center in January. Members of Local 743 in Windsor Locks, CT, have voted overwhelmingly to approve a new three-year contract with aerospace manufacturer UTC Aerospace Systems, formerly known as Hamilton Sundstrand Corp.

“The contract includes 2.5 percent pay raises for each of the three years, and a $2,000 signing bonus,” said LL 743 President Tony Walter. “Just as important, the Negotiating Committee was able to hold medical costs to a minimum while increasing the pension contributions by $7 per month for each year of service. The Negotiating Committee and the membership were very excited about the new agreement.”

The new accord, which covers nearly 1,000 members, was fittingly ratified on May 5, the 125th anniversary of the founding of the IAM.

“ADBR Mike Stone and the Negotiating Committee worked extremely hard on this agreement,” said District 26 DBR Everett Corey. “In January they put in countless hours at the Winpisinger Center during their negotiation prep session, and continued at the table working with UTC to reach an agreement that reflects the needs of the membership and the company. The proof is in the results. My thanks to them, the staff at the Winpisinger Center, Aerospace Coordinator Terry Smith, and the Grand Lodge for providing assistance especially Neil Gladstein and Gwen Camp in Strategic Resources.”
