District 19 General Chairman Heath Jacobs and the IAM Rail Division have negotiated, and members have overwhelmingly ratified, a new five-year contract with Lake Superior and Ishpeming Railroad Company (LS&I) in Marquette, MI.
This contract covers all members who maintain a fleet of locomotives that service a 12-mile track from the Empire and Tilden mine sites to the loading pier on Lake Superior.
The contract took many years due to the national freight agreement taking so long, but as soon as the national settled, General Chairman Jacobs was steady on top of LS&I demanding a fair contract. This contract contained the following:
The agreement was ratified with full participation from our members, all voting to ratify this great agreement.
Jacobs congratulates the members of LS&I for the hard work they put in this round of bargaining.
