Brothers and Sisters,
IAM Rail Division Special Representative Derrick Battle, District Lodge 19 General Chairmen Kenny Krause, Juan Estrada and Josh Cox, and several Local Chairman across the Union Pacific system met last week with Vice President of Mechanical Jeremy Givens, General Director of Locomotive Operations Mark Smith, and Labor Relations.
We discussed several issues that affect our members, such as subcontracting, 100% coverage on the holiday, sick days, local management planning, health and medical concerns, hiring, quality of life concerns, overtime and more. This meeting gave our local chairmen an opportunity to speak directly with UP senior leadership and explain to them what exactly is going on in the mechanical shops.
I want to thank everyone who brought issues to the carrier and represented their respective locations.
