The 26-acre August Fire burning 10 miles west of Banks near milepost 42-43 along Highway 26 was fully trailed and plumbed by Monday morning, Aug. 24. The fire lines are holding around the fire, and firefighters are making progress mopping up the blaze. A lack of wind this morning is aiding their efforts. Oregon Department of Forestry firefighters and firefighters from local rural fire departments are working the fire, which was human caused. Highway 26 remains closed this morning. The Oregon Department of Transportation will reopen the highway as soon as conditions allow.
