District 54 Holds Organizing Seminar

District 54 President and DBR T. Dean Wright, Jr. goes over organizing material with local officers and organizing committee members attending the District’s organizing seminar.

Taking the “whatever-it-takes” cue expressed by IAM President Tom Buffenbarger at the 2010 National Staff Conference, District Lodge 54 in Cleveland, OH conducted an organizing seminar at the Local 1297 union hall in Ashland.

Twenty-eight local lodge officers and organizing committee members got together on a Saturday for a day of intense training. The seminar covered handbilling, blitzing and other organizing techniques. The participants developed a strategic plan to be implemented immediately.

“ I feel the seminar was very productive and energetic,” said District 54 President and DBR T. Dean Wright, Jr. “Our local leaders know the importance of growing our union. Today they left with a better understanding of what’s needed from each and every one of us to accomplish that goal, and they made a commitment to doing just that.”
