District 65 Members Ratify First Contract

Members of IAM District 65 in Fort Drum, NY ratified their first contract with Defense Support Services (DS2) by a 98 percent margin.

The new agreement provides a general wage increase of 3.25 percent, a Lead premium of $2.00 per hour, grievance procedure language, an improved Health and Welfare Benefits Plan and a reduced premium for family coverage of $40.00 per week. The contract also provides union security language, 11 paid holidays and three sick and personal days and the Machinists Custom Choice Worksite Benefits Program.

Having the new contract in place also provides protection for the 240-member unit if their contractor is replaced in a future competition with the government for the work they perform.

“The Negotiating committee worked tirelessly to represent their members and District 65 Business Representative Pete Cooney provided leadership and guidance throughout the negotiations,” said Eastern Territory GVP Lynn D. Tucker, Jr.  “With assistance from the IAM Aerospace Department and support from our members, these negotiations were successful.”
