District 75 Delivers for New Members at Eglin AFB

District 75 in Daleville, AL recently negotiated a three-year first contract for workers at TKC Aerospace, Eglin AFB, FL. The 30-member bargaining unit, which organized with the IAM in March and will become part of Local 20 in Niceville, FL, is responsible for Aerospace Ground Equipment support of the Test Wing at Eglin. The new members include Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanics, Corrosion Control Painters, Tool Clerks, Production Control Clerks/Scheduler, Quality Assurance and Leads.

“The major concern was the government was going to put this contract back out for bid and each employee could have lost anywhere from $3 to $5 per hour in wages,” said District 75 Business Representative Tony Wirth.  “With the new contract, we were able to increase current wage rates while adding additional health and welfare money directly in their paychecks. We also kept a great health care plan, while capping premium increases in the next three years.”

“Our committee worked as one and spoke with one voice throughout negotiation preparations and while at the table,” said Wirth. “I was very proud to have worked alongside them. I also want to thank Southern Territory GVP Bob Martinez for his and his staff’s support during the organizing campaign as well as a special thanks to Aerospace Territory GVP Blondin for his support during the negotiations and for allowing Chief of Staff Ray Moffatt to be present.”
