District 75 Members Ratify New Defense Contract

Members of IAM Local Lodge 449, District 75 of Tyndall AFB in Florida voted by a 98 percent margin to ratify a new three year agreement with Defense Support Service (DS2). Highlights of the agreement include a general wage increase of 3.25 percent, 3 percent and 3 percent respectively each year, a lead premium of 6.5 percent, improved health and welfare benefits, a 401(k) at 4.5 percent contribution rate, 11 paid holidays and above average paid time off. Many language improvements and a training program will keep members highly efficient.

“This high-profile contract for F-22 maintenance is extremely important to our members with the introduction of the F-35 at nearby Eglin AFB,” said Ray Moffatt, IAM Aerospace Coordinator. “Lockheed Martin is in a hiring mode for the F-35 and has been recruiting our highly-skilled members for their unorganized workforce. Through coordination and assistance from the IAM Aerospace Department, these negotiations were successful for our members working under this collective bargaining agreement.”

“The Negotiating committee worked tirelessly to represent their membership,” said IAM Southern Territory GVP Bob Martinez. “District 75 Business Representative Steve Jordan provided leadership and guidance throughout the negotiations. Good contracts like this protect our members and shows the unorganized the value of a solid IAM contract and representation.”
