District 776 Committee Prepares for Lockheed Negotiations

District 776 Bargaining Committee hones bargaining skills during mock negotiations at the Winpisinger Education and Technology Center in Southern Maryland.

The District 776 Negotiating Committee was at the WWW Center last week preparing for a battle next year with Lockheed Martin in Ft. Worth, TX, where about 3,800 IAM members build the F-16 and F-35 fighter aircraft

The negotiators took part in the Winpisinger Center’s Negotiations Preparation classes, building a strategic plan, studying the company’s financial profile, and undergoing an all-too-real mock negotiation.

“We’re expecting a tough fight to protect our pensions and health care benefits,” said Aerospace Coordinator John Crowdis. “The training the Winpisinger Center provides is essential to get the best contract possible.”

The current IAM agreement with Lockheed Martin expires April 22, 2012.
