Election Begins for 19,000 Agents at United/Continental

Voting is underway in the representation election for nearly 19,000 Passenger Service and Reservation agents at the carrier formed by the merger of United Airlines, Continental Airlines and Continental Micronesia.

“The combined Public Contact group is poised to become the single largest group of IAM-represented workers at any airline,” said IAM Transportation Vice President Sito Pantoja in a recent letter to eligible voters. “Combined with the bargaining power of more than 16,000 other IAM members at United, your ability to influence company decisions regarding pay, benefits and daily working conditions is undeniable – and unprecedented.”

Eligible employees can vote for the IAM by phone or via an internet website. Results of the five-week election will be announced by the National Mediation Board (NMB) on February 21, 2012.
