First Student Mechanics Vote ‘IAM Yes’

March 11, 2008 – Organizing efforts continue in the Western Territory with a win at First Student Inc. in Gardena, California. Mechanics voted overwhelmingly to join the IAM, citing wage and benefits issues.
“Congratulations to District 947 Directing Business Representative Richard Sanchez and Organizer Felix Osuna on this organizing victory,” said Western Territory General Vice President Lee Pearson. “Even following a large agency shop victory last year, District 947 has not rested on its laurels and continues to organize and move toward the goal of 250 new members each year.”
First Student is widely recognized for its school and charter bus services nationwide.
