Former IAM Member Assists Pope with Mass in Washington, D.C.

Former IAM Headquarters employee Keith Burney was one of five deacons honored to assist Pope Francis in a mass held at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.

Burney worked for eight years as a systems analyst for the IAM in Upper Marlboro, MD, before entering the seminary in 2010. He is a graduate from Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Management.

Deacon Burney is currently a seminarian at the Saint John Paul II Seminary in the Archdiocese of Washington, which serves 580,000 Catholics in Washington, D.C. and five Maryland counties. Burney will be ordained a priest in 2016.

Burney’s mother, Pat, is a retired IAM member who worked at the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center until 2013.
