Greenpeace Fundraisers Vote IAM

Members of the Greenpeace financing and fundraising department in Montréal, Canada became the newest members of IAM Local Lodge 712.
“These young environmentalists wanted to have a say in their organization, their working conditions and how their work is done,” explained IAM District 11 Business Representative Neil Giroux.
Greenpeace is an independent global campaigning organization that acts to change attitudes and behaviour, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace.
“Every day these members knock on doors in the neighbourhoods of Montréal and promote their cause at Metro stations in an attempt to convince citizens to support Greenpeace,” said Giroux.
“As campaigns go, this was rather quick and the motivation of these 34 members had a lot to do with it,” explained IAM District 11 Organizer Phil Lapointe. “We’re proud to have these new members; they’re an asset to our organization.”
Negotiations for a first collective agreement will begin shortly.
