Guide Dogs to Receive $25,000 Grant

They did it! Thanks to your help, Guide Dogs of America (GDA) will receive a check for $25,000 from Explore Dogs/Dog Bless You, a philanthropic multimedia project that showcases the positive work of non-profits.

GDA, the IAM charity which breeds, trains and provides guide dogs free-of-charge to sightless individuals, received the grant as part of Explore Dog’s “25/25/25 Challenge.” The goal was to help Explore Dogs reach their goal of 25,000 Facebook friends before December 25, 2010.

Many of you got the message, “liked” the page and shared it with your family and friends. The organization reached its goal 11 days before the deadline. “Thank you all so much,” said GDA Director Dale Hartford. “We could not have done this without your passion and perseverance.”

The grant will be used to further help blind and visually-impaired individuals pursue their goals of independence and greater mobility .
