Herrnstadt Named to State Department Advisory Board

Owen Herrnstadt, the IAM’s Director of the Trade and Globalization Department, has been appointed by the U.S. State Department to co-Chair the newly-formed Stakeholder Advisory Board (SAB) for implementation of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) Corporate Social Responsibility Guidelines.

Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Jose Fernandez announced the launch of the Stakeholder Advisory Board, whose task will be to provide recommendations on the application of OECD Guidelines. The 14-member SAB is comprised of leaders from business, labor, civil society and academia.

The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises are voluntary recommendations to multinational corporations on responsible conduct in such areas as human rights, labor, environment and corruption. The Guidelines are the only multilateral, comprehensive code of conduct that 43 national governments have pledged to promote and support.
