Effective August 1, 2016, nineteen IAM Grand Lodge Auditors working throughout North America do so under a new collective bargaining agreement with IAM Grand Lodge. Following negotiations with the members of the IAM Executive Council, the negotiating committee for the newly formed IAM Auditors Association (IAMAA) signed a first contract with the IAM.

“The entire Executive Council wants to congratulate the auditors on their new bargaining unit,” said IAM International President Bob Martinez. “We are pleased to have a first contract in place with the IAM Auditors Association and look forward to strengthening our unity into the future together as fighting Machinists.”

As guardians of the IAM’s financial integrity, the IAMAA organized to represent and recognize the unique contributions and responsibilities of Grand Lodge Auditors.

“We needed to find a way to have our voice heard, collectively” said IAM Auditors Association President Pat Smutney. “Having a first contract will protect the Auditors in the same way we fight for our membership every day.”

The highly skilled and experienced team of IAM auditors ensures the union’s assets are protected and being disbursed properly. They provide knowledge and assistance to local and district lodge financial officers to keep all activities in accordance with the IAM Constitution and Grand Lodge policies. Armed with the latest technology and skills, auditors work in the field and remotely to protect the interests of all union members.
