International President Tom Buffenbarger, left, and retired International President George Kourpias enjoyed reflecting on their experiences together.

“This is for all the members, from this day forward, who come through the Winpisinger Center,” said Buffenbarger of the new room for Robert Roach, Jr. “We want them to see this room and to see what can be accomplished when you put your heart and soul into it. Because that’s what Robert did.”

“I am humbled by the fact that this room will be named after me,” said Roach. “But it is not individual achievement that makes this the greatest union in the world. It is the collective resources of all of you. I am just thankful for the opportunity to have served. I hope that I answered the call.”“George Kourpias served with great distinction for this union as its International President,” said Buffenbarger about his

predecessor and mentor. “George, we want you and your family to know that this union has never forgotten, and still deeply appreciates, the work that you did.”

Following the ceremonies, everyone was invited to visit the rooms and experience some of the accomplishments of the two retired union leaders. With family members and friends alongside, Buffenbarger, Roach and Kourpias reminisced about the years they worked together.
