IAM Files Passenger Service Election Request Cards

The IAM today submitted signed election request cards to the National Mediation Board (NMB) to prove sufficient interest in a union representation election for more than 16,000 Delta Air Lines Passenger Service workers.

The NMB will now review the cards before scheduling an election. NMB election rules require a showing of interest from at least 35 percent of the combined Delta/Northwest workforce in a particular classification before they will order an election for that classification. The IAM is prepared to submit election request cards from Delta Stores Clerks later this week.

“It has been a long road to get to this point, but there is still much work to be done,” said Transportation GVP Robert Roach, Jr. “Everyone who signed an election request card and anyone who understands the benefits of a union contract must vote. There will be a secret ballot election, and a better future for Delta workers is just an IAM vote away.”

Separately, the NMB today ordered an election for more than 14,000 Delta Fleet Service (Ramp) employees to run from October 14-November 18, 2010.
