IAM members from Headquarters helped refurbish a building that will house a new Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Silver Spring, MD. The project involved scraping, painting and moving items into place in anticipation of the store’s opening on November 1.

The Machinists News Network was on hand to capture the scene on video.

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of retail price.

“The IAM takes a great deal of pride in giving back to those who are less fortunate,” said IAM General Vice President Diane Babineaux. “Our work will help countless families in the DC area who need a little extra help furnishing their homes.”
