The award for Labor & Public Policy was given by the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation. The awards celebration, now in its 20th year, honors individuals who pay it forward by dedicating their lives and careers to economic empowerment, civil rights, workers’ rights, women’s rights, voting rights and social justice for all.
Solomon is recognized, by his peers, as one of the top trade union lobbyists on Capitol Hill, for his efforts advocating for IAM members’ rights to organize, negotiate contracts and other workplace freedoms.
After the award presentation, Solomon took part in a panel discussion related to the 20th anniversary theme of Diversity of our Democracy and pushed the importance of grassroots organizing.
