The Amarillo Metal Trades Council overwhelmingly elected new leadership yesterday. Monte McAnear, a 36-year Pantex employee and International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 340 President was elected President of the Metal Trades Council of Amarillo and Vicinity, and IAMAW LL 1255 President Robin Harris was elected Vice-President. Ten different Unions are members in of the MTC.

Sister Harris is a three-term President of IAMAW Local Lodge 1255, with 36 years of IAMAW membership at Pantex.

“I will work hard to represent the MTC membership, and appreciate the vote of confidence the MTC gave Brother McAnear and myself,” said Harris.

“It’s great news for Union members at Pantex and the entire MTC,” said Southern Territory General Vice President Mark Blondin. “Sister Harris is an extremely capable and respected leader. We saw Sister Harris and Brother McAnear’s leadership attributes in action during the recent strike and negotiations in Amarillo which resulted in substantial gains for the Union members there. I’m sure the new leadership team will bring strong representation to the Pantex contract, which will benefit the members and families from all the Unions of the Metal Trades Council.”
