IAM Mourns Former Grand Lodge Rep George Wells

Long-time IAM member and retired Grand Lodge Representative George Wells passed away July 15 at his residence in Monroe, NC at the age of 82.
Wells first joined the IAM in 1950 when he went to work for Avco Manufacturing Corporation after serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He served his fellow brothers and sisters of the IAM in many capacities over 35 years, including Shop Steward and President of Nashville, TN Local Lodge 735; Business Representative and Directing Business Representative of former District Lodge 155. In 1967, he was promoted to the Grand Lodge Staff where he served as a Grand Lodge Representative for 18 years before retiring in 1987.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Harlie; one daughter; two granddaughters and three great-grandsons.
