IAM International President Tom Buffenbarger has been re-elected to Chair a key federal advisory committee: the Labor Advisory Committee for Trade Negotiations and Trade Policy.
The private sector advisory committee advises, consults with and makes recommendations to the U.S. Secretary of Labor and U.S. Trade Representative on matters concerning pending labor and trade negotiations. The committee also provides recommendations on existing trade agreements and matters arising in connection with the administration of our nation’s trade policies.
“U.S. workers deserve a national trade policy that works for them and for our communities,” said Buffenbarger upon his re-election as Chair of the committee. “We will continue to make recommendations to the U.S. Labor Secretary and the U.S. Trade Representative on how to make this long-overdue goal a reality.”
