Valparaiso, Indiana, July 31, 2019 – IAM International President Bob Martinez will join more than 100 members of Machinists Union Local 2018 for a strike rally at Regal Beloit Manufacturing on Friday, August 2, 2019. The rally is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am CST outside the Regal Beloit plant located at 2300 Evans Ave, Valparaiso, IN.
The members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) Local 2018 have been on strike for affordable health care and better wages for over a month.
The Union has presented the company with a reasonable offer to end the strike, but Regal is refusing to come back to the table.
“The company has chosen not to negotiate,” said lead negotiator and IAM Local 2018 Business Representative David Gault. “They would rather try to starve the members and their families.
“But the men and women of IAM Local Lodge 2018 continue to stand strong. The community has stepped up to help support the members with donations of non-perishable goods and food.”
Regal Beloit is a leading manufacturer of electric motors, electrical motion controls, power generation and power transmission products serving markets throughout the world.
IAMAW Local 2018 members employed at Regal’s Valparaiso facility manufacture part bearings for the aerospace industry, including various helicopters for the U.S. government and military.
