IAM Strategic Resources Senior Research Economist Taz Hurst has been appointed to the Department of Labor’s (DOL) Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) Advisory Council.

“Taz Hurst is a great choice to represent the concerns of workers on the ERISA Advisory Council,” said IAM Headquarters General Vice President Rickey Wallace. “As one of our senior economists, he’s a valuable asset to the IAM and we are proud of this recognition of his dedication and skills.”

The council focuses on key issues important to the administration of ERISA. It schedules meetings, hears testimony from a wide range of experts, deliberates and submits its recommendations to the DOL.

Hurst is one of three representatives from employee organizations who will serve on the 15-member council. Other members come from employers, a broad range of investment fields and the general public. Hurst begins his three-year term on February 26, 2016.
