IAM Union Files for Union Representation Election for JSX Ramp Workers

WASHINGTON, May 18, 2026 – The IAM Union (International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers) has filed an application with the National Mediation Board (NMB) seeking a union representation election for dozens of JSX Operations Service (ramp) workers, marking a significant step toward securing a stronger voice on the job.

The filing comes after growing interest among JSX Operations Service Concierge (Ramp) workers seeking union representation to address concerns over below-industry-standard wages and benefits, healthcare, unpredictable scheduling, favoritism, and other workplace issues.

“The workers at JSX are standing up for the dignity, respect, and voice on the job that every airline worker deserves,” said IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen. “Ramp workers keep airline operations moving safely and efficiently every single day, and they deserve fair pay, quality benefits, and transparent workplace standards. The IAM is proud to stand with these workers as they take this important step toward securing a real seat at the table.”

The IAM Union is the largest airline union in North America, representing tens of thousands of airline workers across every major U.S. carrier.

“JSX ramp workers are making it clear that they want a voice in shaping their futures. This filing is about fairness, accountability, and building a better workplace for everyone,” continued Johnsen.

The National Mediation Board oversees union representation elections in the airline and railroad industries under the Railway Labor Act.
