
The IAM Unity and Growth Conference has concluded following four days of inspiring speakers and breakout discussions. The conference ended with delegates delivering strategic organizing sector reports compiled throughout the week.
The IAM Executive Council made major announcements about the union’s future and leadership changes.
IAM International President Robert Martinez Jr., announced his upcoming retirement and named his successor, IAM Resident General Vice President Brian Bryant, effective Jan. 1, 2024.
The retirements of IAM Southern Territory General Vice President Rickey Wallace and IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Steve Galloway were also announced with their successors: IAM Southern Territory Chief of Staff Craig Martin and IAM Midwest Territory Special Assistant Sam Cincinelli.
Longtime aerospace negotiator and leader Jody Bennett will become IAM Resident General Vice President, effective Jan. 1.
“When I look out at all of you today, I see the future of our union,” said IAM International President-elect Brian Bryant. “We are entering new sectors and growing power in our core industries, but I also see the IAM finding our purpose. We are finding inspiration in each other and sharing it with the world. We are empowering our membership and all working people to take back the power they’ve earned.”
The last two days of the conference featured speeches from IAM leaders and leaders in the labor movement, including:
“We are growing, and we are forging a path forward for the next 135 years,” said Bryant. We are showing the world that there is no greater force than 600,000 IAM members united.”
