IAM Women Show Strong Presence at CLUW Convention

IAM women from all over represented the IAM at the 22nd Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW) Convention in Minneapolis this month.

IAM General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes welcomed delegates with a video message.

“We aim to be a formidable force, and this convention serves as a pivotal platform to forge alliances within the labor movement and with our community allies and the women’s movement,” said Cervantes. “The strength of our collective voice is our greatest asset, and as we embark on this journey, let us be inspired by the wisdom of those who came before us and the promise of those who will follow in our footsteps”

IAM Women’s & Human Rights Director Julie Frietchen, who is a vice president representing the IAM on CLUW’s National Officers Committee, attended with a large group of IAM women.

“It was a privilege and an honor to join with so many IAM sisters to forge our path into 2024 together,” said Frietchen. “I was proud to be surrounded by 15 IAM women, and I want to thank those sisters for their commitment to strengthening the position of women in our labor movement. Together, we are standing shoulder to shoulder, pushing forward for justice on the job.”

This convention’s theme was “Hear Us Roar, Ready for 2024!” AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler also addressed the convention.
