Idaho and Utah Locals Join Forces to Raise Thousands for Guide Dogs

More than 60 cars were on display at the seventh annual Stansbury Days Car Show benefitting Guide Dogs of America.

IAM Locals 568 and 2006 held their seventh annual car show in Stansbury Park, UT to support Guide Dogs of America (GDA). More than $6,000 was raised for the charity.

Local leadership from Salt Lake City Local 568 and Blackfoot, ID Local 2006 combine efforts each year with Western Territory Grand Lodge Representative Mike Wardle and his wife Glenna year to put on the show as part of the community’s Stansbury Days celebration. With more than 60 cars on display in the beautiful weather, classic American-made muscle cars shined.

Dozens of prizes were awarded and thousands of people attending the celebration passed through the rows of cars. They were able to learn about GDA and the IAM’s commitment to the charity. This type of event shows the public a side of the union that they rarely see.

“It’s a testament to the leadership, generosity, and character of our membership when our Guide Dogs’ fundraisers are so well run and well attended,” said Western Territory General Vice President Gary Allen. “Raising funds to help the visually impaired gain a sense of independence through seeing-eye dogs is a noble cause and I commend these locals for coming together to make it happen.”
