State Representative Larry Walsh, Jr. has been elected to serve his first full term for the 86th Representative District of Illinois. Larry is an 18-year member of IAM Local 851 and IAM District 8.

“Our union is very progressive in its legislative activities. The IAM has always encouraged our members and officers to get involved and run for office. I’m very proud to represent our union and the residents of the Illinois 86th District. I will make sure our voices are heard,” said Walsh.

Walsh has been serving the 86th District since April 30, 2012. He was appointed to replace long-serving State Rep. Jack McGuire.

As a member of Local 851, Walsh worked his way up to Chairman of the Negotiation Committee before taking a full-time position as Secretary-Treasurer of IAM District Lodge 8.  As Secretary-Treasurer, Walsh oversaw $5 million in yearly revenues and managed all the finances of the Lodge, running a balanced budget each year while expanding its surplus.

He’s been active in his community for several years, serving as a Trustee on the Jackson Township Board for the last 7 years.  He’s involved with the Jackson Township Sportsmen Club, United Way, and Guide Dogs of America.
