Arizona Local SC310 Members Ratify Strong New Contract

More than 800 IAM Local SC310 members at TRAX have voted to accept a new three-year contract. TRAX is a Service Contract Act contractor for the U.S. Army, operating on the proving ground near Yuma, Ariz. IAM members there test equipment, vehicles, tanks, munitions, and other weapons.

The new agreement includes the largest general wage increases (GWIs) in the past five collective bargaining agreements, with raises of 4.9%, 4%, and 3.75% over the contract’s duration.

Additionally, there are significant medical cost savings due to a high employer premium share and the negotiation of the IAM Benefit Trust Fund (IAMBTF). These improvements provide an additional $300 per month in take-home pay for a member on the family plan, resulting in an effective total wage increase of 10% in the first year. The deductibles are reduced from $3,000 to $0, and single coverage is now 100% paid.

“This new contract is a testament to the power of collective bargaining,” said IAM Western Territory General Vice President Gary R. Allen. “Our members at TRAX have secured the largest wage increases in years and significant medical cost savings, resulting in a substantial boost to their take-home pay. This agreement not only protects our members from rising healthcare costs but also ensures their financial well-being for the next three years. It’s a significant victory for everyone involved.”

“This agreement is a powerful example of what can be accomplished through collective bargaining and a united workforce,” said IAM Western Territory Grand Lodge Representative Paul Shepherd. “I’m extremely proud of the negotiating committee and the membership. Their solidarity paid off.”
