IAM District 6 members recently dedicated their time and energy to assisting Hope Haven, a non-profit organization that offers a wide range of services to more than 500 individuals with mental and physical disabilities in southeast Iowa.
Hope Haven provides various services such as vocational training, residential care, community living support, employment opportunities, and crisis intervention services.
Nearly 20 members from IAM District 6, Locals 1010 and 1526, collaborated on outdoor projects, such as landscaping, gardening, and cleaning, at the Hope Haven’s facilities in Burlington, Iowa.
“The support provided by IAM District 6 members will undoubtedly go a long way in making a positive impact on the lives of these individuals and their families,” said IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Steve Galloway. “Throughout the Midwest Territory, all Districts and Locals are actively organizing IAM H.E.L.P.S. events to support and promote significant causes, as well as to provide assistance to local communities in need”.
“It’s great to see IAM members volunteering for this cleanup project that benefits not only Hope Haven residents who enjoy walking there but the entire community,” said IAM Midwest Territory Grand Lodge Representative Kevin Murch.
“Everyone worked hard and fast, and we completed the clearing of the brush in two hours,” said IAM District 6 Assistant Directing Business Representative Pam Gonzales. “We received gratitude from the community for another successful H.E.L.P.S. event, and we look forward to hosting another one next year.
