The National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE-IAM) recently sent 23 wildland firefighters to Capitol Hill. The members spent the last two weeks lobbying for the Paycheck Protection Act (H.R. 6159) to boost woefully low pay rates for the essential workers who battle wildfires from coast to coast.
NFFE-IAM National Business Representative Max Alonzo, along with NFFE-IAM National Business Representative Steve Gutierrez, led the teams around Capitol Hill, lobbying hundreds of congressional representatives and senators.
Progress has been made having this important language put into the appropriations bill, which is a big step forward in solving this problem.
