SEATTLE – Striking workers at Boeing have received a new industry-leading contract proposal from the company, which has been unanimously endorsed by the member-led union negotiation committee. More than 33,000 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) at Boeing locations in Washington state, Oregon, and California have been on strike since Sept. 13.
If ratified by a majority vote of the membership, the new proposal would yield a 43.65% wage increase for the workers currently on strike above their current wages, when compounded over the lifetime of the contract. The general wage increases total 38% before compounding, and are slated to be implemented over four years at 13%, 9%, 9% and 7%. The deal also includes significant gains in retirement funding, job security and bonuses.
IAM District 751 President Jon Holden and IAM District W24 President Brandon Bryant issued the following joint statement:
“The resolve and solidarity of IAM members at Boeing has spurred a new offer from the company that if ratified will enable workers to quickly make up significant ground financially while setting a new standard for the industry on wages and other key protections – including key wins on job security, safety, health care costs, retirement, bonus pay, and more.”
IAM Union International President Brian Bryant released the following statement:
“Nearly every worker in America knows what it’s like for a company to take too much and give too little. In securing this agreement, IAM Union members have won an opportunity to ratify a contract that would set a new standard for their industry. A contract like this would send an inspiring message to all workers in the United States who are seeking to join unions or who have been shortchanged by their employer. That said, we will continue to stand by the membership no matter the outcome of Monday’s democratic vote on these newly improved terms. We also remain very thankful to Acting U.S. Labor Secretary Julie Su, who on behalf of the Biden-Harris administration has continued to help bring the employer and the members together for productive talks to reach this historic agreement.”

Voting Information for Monday, Nov. 4, 2024
Voting will be open at each location from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. unless otherwise specified. Anyone in line by 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote. Members will need a photo ID – either a driver’s license or a Boeing Badge – to vote.
After the voting ends, the count will occur at each union hall or voting location. All vote totals will be called into the Seattle Union Hall for final tabulation. Once verified, the results will be announced at the Seattle Union Hall, on the union website, and in the media.
There will be one ballot to either ACCEPT or REJECT the bargaining agreement. No strike vote is needed since the union is already on strike. A simple majority (50% + 1) of those voting will determine the outcome. There is no remote voting for any member.
If the vote passes, the return to work dates will be as follows: You CAN return to work as early as first shift on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, for those members who want to return as quickly as possible. You MUST return to work by the beginning of your shift on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024.
