Guide Dogs of America (GDA) in Sylmar, CA held graduation ceremonies for its most recent class and IAM International President Tom Buffenbarger took part in the event.

“They do such an excellent job and they give so freely of their time and their efforts,” said Buffenbarger about the GDA’s volunteer puppy raisers. “These are special people and this is what America is all about.”
“We know the love and time and care you took to work with our dogs,” said graduate Vivian Younger.
An IAM member founded Guide Dogs of America in 1948 when he was denied a guide dog due to his advanced age of 57. Since then the union and its members have continued to support the school by raising over half of the funds needed for its annual budget.
