Sito Pantoja, IAM General Vice President for Transportation, was elected to serve on the Executive Board of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), during its meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Pantoja will replace IAM General Secretary-Treasurer (GST) Robert Roach Jr., who has served in that position for over 12 years. Pantoja was unanimously supported by the U.S. representatives on the ITF Executive Board, including Robert Scardelletti, who offered the motion.
ITF President Paddy Crumlin and General Secretary David Cockroft presented Roach with an award for his dedicated service to the ITF. Roach served as the IAM Transportation General Vice President before becoming GST. Brother Roach praised the ITF Executive Board for its decision to elect Pantoja, “The IAM continues its global leadership position for transportation workers with the election of IAM Transportation General Vice President Pantoja. There is no one better able to take my place on the Board and represent the interests of North American transport workers.”
