Georgetown University presented John Sweeney with the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, in recognition of his lifelong dedication to improving working conditions and fighting for basic human rights for workers. Mr. Sweeney has made a profound impact on the lives of working men and women across the country. His efforts, as president of the AFL-CIO and with the many other organizations he has served, have always championed the right of all people to be able to live and work with dignity.
TCU International President Bob Scardelletti and many others from the labor movement attended the ceremony.
