Labor Day Marathon Honors Eight Union Sportsmen and Women

On Labor Day, eight of America’s hardest working union members will be honored for their community spirit, volunteerism and love of the great outdoors during the 2nd annual Brotherhood Outdoors Labor Day marathon.

Presented by Bank of Labor, the marathon is the only nationally televised, union-dedicated celebration in the U.S., and will be broadcast to more than 31 million households from 1 to 5 p.m. ET. on Monday, September 3 via Sportsman Channel.

A collaboration between the network and the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA), this one-of-a-kind event will give viewers an intimate glimpse into the lives of these hardworking, blue-collar characters as they set out on dream North American hunting or fishing trips or choose to show off their skills as guides.

“There are so many sportsmen and women in the union community who are doing amazing things to further conservation efforts throughout North America,” said USA Executive Director Fred Myers. “I can’t imagine a more perfect day than Labor Day to honor and reward that commitment.”

Among the Labor Day episodes is a 2:30 p.m. segment featuring IAM Local 839 member Brett Graham, a longtime Ducks Unlimited member and waterfowl guide, as he takes Tom Ackerman on a goose hunt outside Quivira National Wildlife Refuge in Kansas. Additional segments airing on Labor Day include Texas Whitetail with a Steamfitter; California Hog with an Ironworker; Montauk Stripers with an Electrical Worker; Montana Whitetail with an Operating Engineer; Michigan Pheasant with a Firefighter; Montana Elk with an Electrical Worker and Idaho Mule Deer with a Refrigeration Fitter.
