Nearly 20 years after the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) became law, barriers still exist between people with low-income, seniors, people of color and the voting booth. Several groups are calling for enforcement of NVRA to make sure everyone’s voice is heard, even the working poor.  Project Vote, Demos, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law & the NAACP want to see every state register more voters at motor vehicle bureaus, public assistance & disability agencies and through mail-in forms.  They also want purging of voter rolls to end.
