Acclaimed historian Eric Foner spoke about Social Movements and Political Change at the AFL-CIO to give historical perspective to the issues working families face today. He spoke of Abraham Lincoln, abolitionists and Theodore Roosevelt, among others. Foner’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book is The Fiery Trial: Abraham Lincol and American Slavery. He says abolitionists were some of the earliest labor leaders.
