Retired IAM National Pension Fund Coordinator Jim Lautar recently received the 2010 “Legacy Award” from the Maryland State & District of Columbia AFL-CIO.
The award was presented at their “Salute to Leadership” awards dinner held in Baltimore, MD. It recognizes Lautar’s dedicated service in the labor movement fighting for workers’ rights for more than 30 years.
“Jim is quite simply one of the most civil and dedicated union representatives I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing,” General Secretary-Treasurer Warren Mart told those at the dinner, “but he could be tough as nails when the time came.”
A 36-year member of the IAM, Lautar has been active in the Maryland/D.C. labor scene from the beginning, serving in many leadership positions at the local, district and national levels.
Also recognized at the awards dinner were John Cefalu of the Iron Workers and Robert Moore from SEIU.
