Local 681 Preps for Negotiations at WWW Center

IAM members at Reynolds Packaging Group in Louisville, KY prepared for upcoming contract negotiations by attending classes at the William W. Winpisinger (WWW) Education and Technology Center. Local 681 represents Maintenance Employees at the facility, which manufactures Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil.

The WWW Center’s week-long Negotiation Preparation for Bargaining Committees Program helped them make a strategic plan to address issues identified in member surveys and taught them how to develop solidarity within the bargaining unit. They also took part in a mock negotiation session, with WWW Center Instructor Rhonda Rogers playing the company, and presented their strategic plan at the end of the week.

“After this week, we will be able to utilize a much wider range of resources,” said Negotiating Committee member Kenneth Hoover.

The current collective bargaining agreement for Reynolds maintenance employees at the facility expires January 31, 2015.

“This puts us in a good position going forward to prepare and empower the committee,” said Directing Business Representative Billy Stivers. “We have what we need to work with and time to work things out.”
