Members of IAM Local 99, who work for the Calgary Stampede entertainment venue in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, attended the Negotiation Preparation class at the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center in Southern Maryland to prepare for upcoming contract negotiations.
This is a new group to the IAM and has been through tough times to get a first contract. IAM District 14 Business Representative Kevin Clark and the committee were determined to set new expectations with the employer on how the IAM will fight for its members. Local 99 members Neil Barker and Allen Kelsey were elected to the committee.
After putting in many hours at the WWW Center, the negotiating committee is better prepared for the negotiation table, says IAM Education Representative Henry Bagwell.
“As usual, the Negotiation Preparation class is one of the hardest classes at the Center,” said Bagwell. “Brothers Clark, Barker and Kelsey did not shy away from the hard work and long hours. Next time you are at the Calgary Stampede or other activity at the venue, stop and say hello to our IAM members.”
